Our plot

Our plot is at Bedminster Down C site on the edge of Bristol, it has the most awesome views of the Clifton Suspension Bridge, the City and Ashton Court Estate. The plot is tucked away down the bottom of the site with trees at the back and feels a world away from the busy city the other side of the fence.

We have only just started complete novices really. Dan laid two pallets, sunken into the earth, which made a stable path for our youngest son to walk on, being only 2 he found the bumpy ground very hard going to begin with.

We were kindly given our little shed by a generous man via Freecycle (dont get me started on this subject - this is another love of mine!). It looks dwarfed next to the huge shed of the neighbouring plot, but I am sure it will spread out and look more at home as time goes on. In fact it is hardly noticeable in the above picture. So this is why it became GREEN! The tin said 'Herb Garden' green which I think is quite appropriate.

So far we have made 4 beds, planted Garlic 'Sultop' and 'Solent Wight' and Onion Sets 'Centurion' and 'Sturon' only 50 each of these which we think may not be enough. Have to have a think about this.

The plan is to 'of course' be as self sufficient as we can be, so things like onions and garlic I dont want to have to buy for the year. We will see.
