Hyacinth

I must admit that I am a recent convert when it comes to Hyacinths.

I used to think they were all a bit Granny, plus I worked in a bulb factory in Holland many moons ago, and these bulbs used to make my skin come out in hives.

But just recently, since having the boys, I've discovered the joy of growing Hyacinth in these jars.

Today I 'planted' these two bulbs in vases made from recycled jam jars, which I found in my local garden centre.

You can see a tiny green shoot emerging from the top.

I am hoping they will bloom for Christmas, snowy white flowers, which will give a hint of spring time promise.

I know the boys are going to love to see the curly roots through the glass.
