national beanpole week

If you are like me and are fed up with boring ugly bamboo canes as supports for climbing beans, then national beanpole week if for us!

I have long wanted some coppiced hazel for my sweetpeas and runners to clamber up, hankering after them since Monty Don first showed us them on Gardeners World.

From the 23rd April - 1st May is national beanpole week, which has been set up to highlight locally sourced, sustainable alternatives to the imported bamboo cane.  Please visit http://www.beanpoles.org.uk/ for information of a coppice woodland locally to you.

So if you can, please try to support {no pun intended!} our local coppice woodlands and buy hazel poles, they are better for the environment and look pretty too!
