our hero, Dad...

This afternoon, Dan and I took the boys for a bike ride through Leigh Woods - a local woods on the outskirts of Bristol.
We had just stepped out of the car and were walking into the woods, when a distressed lady ran towards us, asking if we had seen a little boy on a balance bike.
She had lost her 2 year old.
We agreed to help her find little Tom.
Leigh Woods is huge he could have been anywhere.
We agreed to split up, after what seemed hours, Dan called me on the phone to say he'd found him.
I told his mama who had until that point been holding it together, she cried with relief.
Dan had found Tom standing at the bottom of a very steep hill, off the beaten track, his balance bike left in a very muddy puddle.
I doubt they would have thought of looking down there.
Phew.. thank goodness to Dan's level head and following the balance bikes tracks to find him, thank goodness for the heavy rain recently for making these tracks visible and thank goodness for a massive puddle for slowing the little man down!
He's a hero in our house.
