The Original Pop-Up Shop...

Okay - so it's only 5 weeks til the big day.. have you started shopping yet?  I did, today.  Just a few little bits for an advent calendar I am thinking of. It is so exciting!
Tell me, when do you start on your decorations?  On Instagram recently, I have noticed a lot of people have started to bring some glitz and shimmer into their home already.  Have you?  I can't wait, but as a rule I have to wait until the 14th December in our home... (this is Dan's birthday) so on the 15th our house gets glitzed!

I've recently discovered this wonderful shop - The Original Pop-Up Shop.  Starting three years ago, using the old Ice Cream Parlour next to their home, for the 6 week run up to Christmas it transforms into a Christmas pop up shop - selling the best of decorations, wreathes and all things interiors for Christmas.  Last year it launched an on-line shop too, so we can shop there.  (The real life shop is in Newark, Nottinghamshire, UK).

I love those little baking tin candle holders... and this year I WILL finish my felt ball wreath I started last year, this one is stunning!. Yep... I might have to have a white paper snowflake or two, too!  Do go and check it out - it has some lovely stuff.

How do you decorate for Christmas - do you have a style?

  1. Ohh, I do love that shop, it reminds me a little of Papermash. I'm pretty haphazard about our decorations. In my head one day I'll live in a giant Georgian house with fairy lights everywhere and a white linen table stacked with candles and present and....you get what I mean. For the time being there's a lot of sellotape and children's cards and cotton wool balls pretending to be snow. I love it!

  2. Ooo, the felt ball wreath is gorgeous. Have my hands a bit full this year, but definitely on next year's christmas crafting list. Good luck with finishing yours!

  3. I must admit, I have started to yearn for a few bits already. We use lots of fairy lights all over the place and collect a new tree decoration each year, we don't have a theme as such, but I tend to stick with white and green - we have a mini coffee machine and robots that come out every year and are very precious, as well as the boys' first nursery creations - they started out as stars but are a bit more impressionist interpretations now. :)

  4. Oh I'm excited that the pop up shop is just down the road from me! Never knew! We also have December birthdays which take priority over Xmas. My eldest is the 1st and my youngest is on the 2nd. Busy times!

  5. What a lovely shop, and I LOVE that wreath! I made a wreath a couple of years ago, I must take some photos of it this year - it's very sparkly, which isn't my usual style, but I do like a bit of bling at Christmas! As I'm sure you can imagine, my Christmas style is colourful and leans towards the maximalist...we always buy one new tree decoration every year, and I have a fabulous paper angel with pink hair, which I adore. We usually put our tree up in early December, but I might put it off for a bit this year...I have a feeling it'll get boring trying to stop the puppy from destroying the tree! xx

  6. I've come across that shop a few times in magazines and it looks amazing, just my cup of tea. I like to get out the door wreath, advent calendar and a few bits and bobs on the 1st December, then "do" the house properly when the tree goes up, usually about ten days before Christmas. I like my tree to be colourful and full of memories and homemade stuff - no styled, tasteful, colour-coordinated trees for us! I love how everyone has their own rituals and traditions. x

  7. Aren't the little flan tin candles gorgeous!!!
I try to mix it up each year with how I decorate.
Planning on creeping a little neon in this year. Jx

  8. The felted ball wreath is just beautiful! I love Christmas decorating too. This year I'm making little drawstring bags with goodies in them, to lay on each lunch plate – a nice change from my usual bonbons. Also planning some floral 'masterpieces' with dried berries and bits n' pieces from the garden.

  9. We don't decorate until about a week before Christmas either. And I'm Christmas mad, but somehow I feel like it dilutes it all if you start too early, you know, like it's spread too thinly. I suppose it's what you were bought up with as well. I have started lighting more candles and putting on the fairy lights on tho I do that all year round. One thing I won't compromise on is a real Christmas tree but every year I nearly choke when they tell me the price! And this year there some fungus problem which could send them soaring... Love the look of that shop btw, shall pop over for a look now. X

  10. Thanks for recommending the Original Pop-Up Shop, it has some gorgeous things. Love the felt ball wreath. My favourite decoration is my chilli wreath, although my daughter once tried to chew one that had fallen on the floor and had a shock! Now she is on a mission to get more tinsel into the house instead of all my natural greenery. Maybe I should just give in to the kitsch?

  11. Ooh, I love those paper decorations! I'm planning something subdued and minimal for us, but loud and brash for the kids. Can't wait!

  12. Oh wow, thanks so much for your kind words about our little shop! We have been overwhelmed by the response this year and love putting together our Christmas collection, although it gets earlier every year, planning began around May/June this year can you believe! Oh and anyone that is interested in the felt ball wreath and has seen it is out of stock might like to know we are expecting to have them back in next week, hurrah! Love reading your blog, big thanks again, TOPUS xx
