I have made paper garlands before, stars, triangles, mini buntings. Paper garlands lend a pretty, ethereal look to a room. During summer with the windows open they tend to dance on the breeze.
Recently I found this little tutorial via
House that Lars Built, a pretty geometric garland. This one is simple, stylish and easy to make:
You will need:
paper color of your choice, circle cutter or scissors, sewing machine, thread.
Method:
Step 1: Cut out your circles in any size you want. We did 6″ circle here.
Step 2: Fold the circle in half.
Step 3: Fold the circle in half the other way.
Step 4: Fold the circle in half two more times so that there are 8 pieces total. The folds should go in and out, meaning that every other fold should be going the same way.
Step 5: Cut out two of the pieces with scissors.
Step 6: Sew down one line of the circle.
Step 7: Continue sewing down each paper fold onto the next circle. I left about 3-4″ between circles. I also alternated which line I sewed down to add variety to the look of the garland.
Voila!
So pretty for an summer evening party, hanging amongst the trees,
