As a family we LOVE to have friends and family round for lunch. But in homes such as ours, space is always a problem. We live in a small 2 up 2 down Victorian Terrace. Our dining space comfortably seats 6, so when we have friends round with their children, sometimes we need to make room for up to 8 or 9 people.
Each time, with a little bit of juggling, bringing my desk from the studio down, and finding chairs from the garden, we do manage. But that's all part of the fun. It makes the preparation more of an occasion.
When I saw this little film 'Dinner with the Lims and Ikea', I thought, ha!, that's us! Bringing chairs and tables from around the house. But with Ikea, there is a lot more thought and care with how each item is used. I am already thinking of great ways to store and arrange the furniture. With Winter coming, I think more Sunday Roasts will be made, and more people coming.
How do you manage with lots of people for lunch?
