I've got a post coming up with heaps of tips, but my best one is to just buy high street clothes from eBay - you still get to look nice but without adding to the levels of consumption. Which can't be bad! x Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10204425200959444872noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4090073953161138409.post-6492965892922367172012-09-28T16:50:26.038+01:002012-09-28T16:50:26.038+01:00you look lovely :) xyou look lovely :) xTigerlilly Quinnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13801149308851133886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4090073953161138409.post-24455066717057879412012-09-28T00:30:18.200+01:002012-09-28T00:30:18.200+01:00You look fabulous in that stripy dress. It is difficult shopping for nice clothes especially when money is tight.
I have bought a few things from the Orla Kiely collection she's done with Uniqlo which I must say is an awful website but they do seem to have some good basic quality clothes. And Orla's stoles on there are incredible and can change an outfit. Basic jeans and plain top add one of her scarves, perfect!!
Let us know if you find a good online shop :) xsew obsessedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18215054779199085666noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4090073953161138409.post-80138768929363321722012-09-27T19:20:03.918+01:002012-09-27T19:20:03.918+01:00Can we not carry on wearing our summer clothes wit...Can we not carry on wearing our summer clothes with thermal long johns underneath?Melanie Wickhamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10046126702730732136noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4090073953161138409.post-87869355321831782562012-09-27T19:07:24.341+01:002012-09-27T19:07:24.341+01:00have you tried nomads clothing?have you tried nomads clothing?Liz Bensonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01206897751299188298noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4090073953161138409.post-20882547072635359202012-09-27T19:07:00.814+01:002012-09-27T19:07:00.814+01:00Oh I so know what you mean. I'm tempted to go and learn pattern cutting so that I can make my own clothes, but I am quite intimidated by the idea of making garments - so much more complicated than cushion covers! I actually do get most of my clothes from charity shops, because it means I have a bit more money to spend on other things - but yes it is hard to find exactly what you're looking for, in the right size - I'd love to splurge on a few gorgeous pieces that would last...one day! xxRainbow Vintage Homehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08074537730057546641noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4090073953161138409.post-8463676331695272182012-09-27T16:27:08.686+01:002012-09-27T16:27:08.686+01:00this is so hard isn't it? I do wear most of my wardrobe but I have edited it right down and own (relatively) very few clothes. What I do do is treat myself each season to something that I really love and that will last. My basics (tshirts, leggings etc tend to be mostly cheap & cheerful). My favourite items do tend to be the ones I spent a bit of money on and that I properly love, not the ones bought in a rush and with a cross 'that will do' head on. I only replace things when they have really worn out. This is my way of sticking the fingers up to the consumerist culture! I suppose ethical clothing by its very nature is always going to be much pricer than elsewhere. American Apparel is one of my favourite shops for more ethical staple wardrobe items, and they do have good sales every now and then.

Obviously I've been doing an awful lot of clothes shoppping recently, and nearly all my clothes are either from charity shops or ebay (where I can search for better quality brands). As I travel around a lot for work I do find charity shops in smaller rural towns much better for hidden gems. Somerset is one of my favourite places for charity shopping- Wellington, Bridgewater, places like that are good! It's just a question of perseverance!

Good luck x
mother of purlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00892868070047175458noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4090073953161138409.post-53658058593571462652012-09-27T15:47:30.330+01:002012-09-27T15:47:30.330+01:00i am always looking for one style of dress. mod/mi...i am always looking for one style of dress. mod/mini, with pockets. i could live in that type of dress all seasons. hard to come by though. x

p.s. i'm not to be trusted anyway, as soon as i turned 39 i started folding down corners of the boden catalogue. i'm going dowwwwwwwn! xFrancescahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08954827534874460662noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4090073953161138409.post-89037031160662017112012-09-27T14:20:53.715+01:002012-09-27T14:20:53.715+01:00You look so gorgeous, Lou.
